With Texas bordering Mexico there are many concerns that come to the forefront of the state. Bio-terrorism is one of the many concerns that plague’s the state. Even with Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden dead and major disruptions occurring within the organization. There are still many Muslim extremists and terrorist organizations who wish to infiltrate the United States to commit terrorist attacks.
Bio-terrorism was certainly one of the concerns that was raised with the recent swine flu outbreak that came to The United States from Mexico. Many terrorist organizations have in recent years vowed to cross the United State border to attack the country via terrorism.
Evidence has been found that Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations have been working on plans to bring bio-terrorism attacks through Texas from Mexico. Because of this emergency medical responders and public health officials have been on alert ever since September 11, 2011. These threats have not subsided in any significant manner. Al-Qaeda plans for attacks on the United States and its interests that were in previously in the works are still being deciphered from the confiscation of information from the Osama Bin Laden raid earlier this summer.
Public Heath Officials, police and emergency medical responders in Texas are on alert for any attempts to infiltrate the region with bio-terrorism and any other form of terrorism. The public is requested to always stay alert for any suspicious activity that could prove to be dangerous for the public at large and contact authorities if they witness anything suspicious. Additionally because the Mexican drug cartels have infiltrated the region as well with violence there is concern for this as well. All emergency first responders are ready and waiting should the need arise to assist in eradicating a threat. Texas has remained overall safe from major threats but there have been small incidents that are a cause of concern as they can be a precursor to more violent acts.
